Using CBD to take your Yoga experience to the next level
Many of us will associate the words calming, relaxing, and soothing to the word Yoga. For those of us that have taken part in yoga practice, you may know that satisfying, gentle feeling of calm relaxation that it can leave you with. Still, you may also understand that it's not always so easy to achieve this effect, especially if your mind is prone to a bit of a wonder.
We now also associate the words calming, relaxing, and soothing to CBD. CBD is a component of the hemp plant that doesn't get you high but can positively influence what's known as the endocannabinoid system to induce feelings of calmness and lower anxiety. This is why a large number of people have started to take CBD or CBD Oil before their yoga practice.
Those prone to mind wondering may see a massive benefit in the quality of their yoga sessions by taking CBD before starting as it helps them to settle down and begin to focus on the poses in a non-biased way without distraction.
The benefits of doing Yoga and CBD together
Combining CBD with Yoga has the potential to deepen your practice as it helps quieten the 'monkey mind'(primal mind). Allowing you to focus on your poses and awareness of body position and achieve a more relaxing and focused final stage to the practice called Savasana, which gives you a better chance of receiving the enjoyable feelings that Yoga can bring.
For individuals with pre-existing conditions who may have struggled in the past to take part in a yoga practice, CBD may help you to relieve your pain to allow you to take part in the practice entirely. It's not just the benefits of physical issues, either. Those suffering from afflictions such as social anxiety may find that they benefit from the use of CBD, too, by helping them feel calmer practicing with others or merely lowering general anxiety levels to permit them to focus on their poses.
How is it done?
To begin with, you must take a few drops of CBD oil under the tongue. Leave for 30 seconds to 1 minute before swallowing and then sit there for a few minutes in quiet meditation or practicing deep breathing.
If you can find a class that incorporates a lot of breathwork or meditation over the more active posing type, of course, this may be better, but CBD could bring some noticeable benefits to all styles of Yoga.
Who shouldn't use CBD for their yoga practice?
It's advised that pregnant women attending prenatal yoga classes avoid using CBD. This is because we don't have enough evidence that CBD is 100% safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
